Tokyo Festival 2024 Offers Special Tour For Visitors To Enjoy Leading Japanese Contemporary Theater!
“Tour to DISCOVER! Japanese contemporary performing arts in Tokyo”
Tokyo Festival Executive Committee has announced that the following special tours for visitors from overseas and people whose native language is English, Korean, or Chinese will be offered in September, 2024. The tours are designed to promote the appeal of contemporary performing arts and the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre – one of Japan’s leading theaters – outside of Japan. Given that Tokyo Festival is an urban performing arts festival of global standing, the aim of the tours is to convey the “soft power” of Japanese contemporary performing arts overseas and increase the number of inbound tourists coming to enjoy Tokyo Festival and Japan’s performing arts.
1. Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre Presents Kinoshita-Kabuki “Sannin Kichisa Kuruwa no Hatsugai” Tokyo Shuttle Tour (including viewing ticket)
A guided tour by shuttle bus around the famous Edo sites and places related to the film, unraveling the historical context and background to enhance your viewing experience. Dates: September 16th (Monday, national holiday), 23rd (Monday, holiday), 29th (Sunday) from 9:00 on each day | English
2. Performance Viewing Tour with Lecture on Highlights **
Before the performance, a lecture will provide not only the details and storyline of the work but also its background and concept.

Tour participants will receive a specially made novelty gift.
Other events: Tokyo Festival Farm public lecture and presentation as well as symposiums will be held with Japanese-English language assistance (consecutive interpreting). Additionally, for this year’s event festival staff able to speak English and other languages will be on hand at the information center (Tokyo Festival Hiroba) to provide multilingual information on the festival.
