"Tokyo Festival 2024" Special Tabloid Contents

[Cover] The play "Sannin Kichisa Kuruwa no Hatsugai" by Tokyo Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre Autumn Selection Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre Presents Kinoshita-Kabuki , which starts on the first day of the festival, Sunday, September 15th, features Kinoshita Yuichi, the head of Kinoshita-Kabuki , and actors Kenta Suga and Ryoko Fujino! A special talk by everyone is published on page 3.

[P2-3] The main program of the art festival, the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre Autumn Selection Theatre Presents Kinoshita-Kabuki "Sannin Kichisa Kuruwa no Hatsugai" will be featured!

Kinoshita-Kabuki , which presents classic Kabuki and Bunraku plays as contemporary dramas, will return to the Tokyo Festival with "Sannin Kichisa Kuruwa no Hatsugai" following last year's "Kanjincho." We will introduce the highlights of the play and points to keep in mind. There will also be a special talk between Kinoshita-Kabuki's director, Yuichi Kinoshita, and the actors Kenta Suga and Ryoko Fujino, who will appear in the play! What is the deep reason behind performing this Kabuki work written by Mokuami Kawatake 160 years ago now?

[P4] Special feature on the play “Metamorphosis of a Living Room” by chelfitsch x Fujikura Dai with Ensemble Nomad, which begins on Friday, September 20th. This collaborative work between chelfitsch , a theater company led by playwright Toshiki Toshiki Okada , who has participated in some of the world's leading festivals, and contemporary musician Fujikura Dai - a much talked-about work that made a glorious opening appearance at the Vienna Festival's annual Vienna Arts Week, will be making an appearance at the art festival. Rather than one side taking the lead, either theater or music, this is a new type of stage production that is both a theater performance and a musical concert. Don't miss this "new musical theater" where the two resonate with each other.

[P5] Introducing "Dance that makes you want to go to the art festival" by Ryohei Kondo, choreographer and dancer and leader of the CONDORS . Get your body moving and get ready! Maybe dancing will have you looking forward to the art festival!? Kondo will be writing, choreographing and directing the CONDORS outdoor performance "Let's Turn The Table" at the GLOBAL RING THEATRE (Ikebukuro West Exit Park Outdoor Theater) on Saturday, September 21st and Sunday, September 22nd (National Holiday)! (Free viewing (no reservations required))

In addition, an essay by Kishodai Kageyama , the head of the theater project Enbannoripa, titled "The time of theater and the time of ' NORUHA a disk'" is published. What does "watching a theater" mean to Kageyama? NORUHA's stage play "Virtual Disorder" will start on Thursday, September 19th.

[P6] Introducing various programs that will add color to the Tokyo Festival, including programs that parents and children can enjoy together and presentations by creators from all over Asia. Come to the theater to discover new worlds and fun!

[Pages 6-7] Under the title "Welcome to the world of theater," we feature "Encounters with the world of theater" by performers and people involved in the Tokyo Festival 2024. Do you remember playing a role in a recital, watching a play at school or at the theater?

[P8] Introducing the Tokyo Festival Information Center - HIROBA, an information space where you can discover the appeal of the festival program. Here, you can find a wealth of information about the performances and their highlights in the form of an exhibition, as well as a wide range of content, including talk events and workshops.

This year, the Tokyo Festival Information Center - HIROBA【TRANSIT KITCHEN】 will also be set up in the Front entrance of the theatre of the Tokyo Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre . In addition to providing information, it will offer collaborative menus inspired by the performances and other events, as well as host a variety of programs that will stimulate the senses, including music, performances and art!
