Sanza Yanagiya: Three nights, three indulgences, three performances: Edo Zanmai (“three dishes from Edo”)
Three stories in one night on the theme of “drinking, gambling and squandering: the essence of Edo”
Drinking, gambling, and squandering have been described as a man’s privilege and as the essence of Edo’s worldly pleasures.
On three consecutive nights, Sanza Yanagiya will recount rakugo tales on the theme of Edo’s triple delights, which seem so appealing now that they are no more. Each night’s performance will consist of three parts, each dealing separately with the three indulgences.
On three long autumn nights, enjoy this chance to fully savor the pleasing rhythms of Sanza Yanagiya’s crisp delivery and reflect on the good old days, when a man had the freedom to roam where he pleased, as the wind and fancy took him, with complete peace of mind.
