Parent and child, but sometimes classmates
“Toshima Oyako-school,” implemented by artist YORIKO from 2016 to 2017 in Kagawa Prefecture’s Takamatsu city, and in 2019 as part of the Art Culture Magical Academy project in the Performing Arts Division of special project Culture City of East Asia 2019 Toshima, sparked plenty of feedback and excitement. This year the “school” re- opens in Toshima-ku. Owlspot Theatre’s meeting room will be transformed into a classroom, where for a limited time kids and parents can have fun and learn together as classmates. Teachers will comprise various professionals and local specialists, who will give unique lessons that will engross both parents and children and differ somewhat from lessons at a regular school. This project provides an enjoyable month-long forum for interaction that will enable participants to see new sides to their family members.
