Talk on Theatre Ekamatra’s “Tiger of Malaya” (with pre-screening) is now available for reservation.
By reenacting parts of the wartime propaganda film “Tiger of Malaya” on stage with a Singaporean and Japanese cast, Theatre Ekamatra’s stage piece “Tiger of Malaya” explores in a sharp yet humorous way some of the topics that are unavoidable for film and theatre creators today, including the issue of rewriting history, and the discussion on appropriate casting in terms of ethnicity, etc.
A filmed 2018 performance of the play in Singapore will be streamed, followed by a talk session on October 21 with experts from Japan, and another on October 27 with the visiting playwright, director, and producer of Theatre Ekamatra.
