Tokyo Festival 2022 “Postcard Project” starts
Creators portray Tokyo Festival in art!
For Tokyo Festival 2022, diverse creators have produced postcards on the theme “Tokyo Festival.” Encountering diverse perspectives and unexpected moments as expressed by these creators will bring Tokyo Festival closer and make it even more interesting!
A limited quantity of the postcards will be distributed to various city locations from mid -September.

Keiichi Arai
Title “See, experience, feel”
“It’s like, the stage is a creative place, but seeing something up close in the flesh, when you experience it, it sort of gives you a new sense of values, so my feeling is it’s definitely good to go see something on stage.”

Okataoka
Title: “GLOBAL RING THEATRE”
“It’s a place in a lakefront forest where lots of different animals come for a therapeutic experience. I drew this in the hope that GLOBAL RING THEATRE will become a place like that for us.”
Profile
Grew up on the border of Miyazaki and Kagoshima Prefectures. Graduated from the Kuwasawa Design School. Okataoka provides illustrations for books, apparel, advertisements and more. In addition to painting, he produces works using various techniques, including ceramics and woodcuts. He also works with YACHIYO KATSUYAMA as the artist unit Ishi ni Hana. Loves dogs and cars.

Yurie Sekiya
Title: “Pero Pero ★Mayim Mayim”
“In the past few years, I have come to feel even more strongly that I don’t want to let art of the sort you can see live, interact with and enjoy die out. What I – no, we – need now, is to hold hands with the person next to us and dance the Mayim Mayim.”
Profile
Since graduating from Tama Art University, she has worked as a freelance illustrator. Her work comprises analog and digital drawings of mainly animals and girls. She engages in a wide range of design work for apparel, character goods etc.

Risa Niwano
Title: “Makuaki” (“The curtain rises”)
“I’ve have the experience of trembling when I’ve seen performers laughing or getting angry in front of me. I experienced a sort of therapy and thrill that you can’t get in everyday life. The play begins. Give us a closer look at your raw expressions!”
Profile
Born in Saitama Prefecture, Niwano is an illustrator who lives in Tokyo. Working under the theme of a “margin of interpretation,” her appeal lies in her collage-like pop-style works that hint at a hidden story. To date she has produced artwork for music-related jackets and other goods.

Title: “reality ? unreality ?”
“This is a visualization of the unique feeling of confusion and excitement after contact with art, not knowing whether it is reality or unreality.”
Profile
From 2010 she began working as a collage artist/graphic designer/art director. As well as creating Lumine and NEWoMan window displays, artwork for bands like Official Hige Dandism, Perfume and GLAY, and illustrations for brands such as MIKIMOTO and agete, she has created art for the magazine pages of VOGUE JAPAN, Soen, and ELLE, as well as book cover designs.
