Tokyo Festival 2022 Grand Opening
An art festival for discovering a new Tokyo and connecting with the world. The opening program, which provides a lively and glitzy start to Tokyo Festival 2022, will be held at GLOBAL RING THEATRE (Ikebukuro Nishi-guchi Park Outdoor Theatre)
Part 1 Ceremony 1:00 p.m.
A ceremony will be held to celebrate the holding of Tokyo Festival, which runs from September through December. The ceremony will include greetings from the organizers, and mini performances.
Part 2 “New Mayim Mayim” 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Participation free
Choreography: Takuro Suzuki
Part 2 comprises a big dance bash which anyone is free to join, featuring jolly reworkings of folk dances including the Israeli Mayim Mayim. Walk-ins are most welcome on the day, so please come join the fun!

Profile
Takuro Suzuki
Choreographer, director, dancer. Leader of CHAiroiPLIN, a prominent next-generation dance company which has previously sold out the Globe Tokyo. His numerous awards include the 46th Newcomer Award from the Dance Critics Society of Japan, the Japan Dance Forum Award, and the Gran Prix in the Young Director’s Award. He has choregraphed and performed for the NHK children’s television series “Miitsuketa,” and provided choreography for the musical “Touken Ranbu” and the stage version of “Bungo Stray Dogs,” as well as for many performances at the Imperial Theatre and the Hakataza Theater. Suzuki has made guest appearances in works by Philippe Decouflé, among others.
He was selected as a 2015“East Asia Cultural Exchange Ambassador” by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs. Suzuki has a knack for quirky fashion.
